The Emperor's New AI
It will not be long before the coffee roasters started to claim that your morning cup of joe is infused with artificial intelligence (AI). Afterall, it seems like every vendor out there is touting products that leverage AI - even when some of these solutions really don't contain any intelligence. In this presentation, we will cover what is the difference between a program that uses artificial intelligence and an algorithm or computer program and the characteristics of an artificially intelligent program. That is, given any software system, how do we know with certainty that AI is implemented/integrated into the system. We will delve into the evolution of AI over the last five decades and the different models of AI that have been deployed and are available for use. In addition, we will look into some case studies of how AI is currently being used in different sectors.
